The Holy Trinity: Funk, Soul, Rock & Roll

Mirepoix. Sofrito. Holy Trinity.
Funk. Soul. Rock and roll.
It's the blend, baby! The quintessence of the senses, a gift from the ancients that has survived automobiles and AI. We cookin'—on stage and in the kitchen. Hi-hats are sizzlin' like garlic in oil, the low end is stirring booties and the roux, and guitar pickin' is melting faces and butter. And we can't forget that special seasoning: the vocal melody that can make you weep like having your gramma’s gumbo for the first time in forever and a day.
Ghost Gumbo (Jim Belcher, Damon Scott, Orlando Thillet, and Mary-Ellen Wilson) is a collaborative venture that isn't afraid to add an extra dash or three of spice to the mix. Would you like some Bruno Mars served up alongside AC/DC? Move on down south for a meat-and-three of D'Angelo, Marcus King, and the Neville Brothers. They say there are only two types of music—Country AND Western—so why wouldn't the quartet throw in a little Margo Price with a heaping of Johnny Cash? Or Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" reimagined as a Studio 54 dance party? In some respects, it's just not fair.
How about that original recipe? The secret blend of herbs and spices? The foursome has debuted three original tunes this year with many more in the pressure cooker, ready to blow the lid. Summer is for cookouts and concerts, and Ghost Gumbo can't wait for you to feast on beats and beets.
